Acrylic or silicone roof coating?
Both acrylic and silicone coatings can be used to protect an existing roof after repairs. The useful comparison is between specific products on your roof, including its previous coatings and drainage.
We assess the roof before recommending either treatment. A coating needs a sound surface to bond to; it cannot repair wet insulation or replace badly deteriorated roofing.
Comparing the two types

When each coating is worth considering
The coating name alone is not a specification. For example, Henry identifies 887 Tropi-Cool as silicone and 687 Enviro-White as acrylic. Each has its own preparation and application requirements.
An acrylic coating review

Preparation matters as much as the coating
Cleaning, repairs and adhesion checks establish the surface the new coating will bond to. Loose material and incompatible old treatments can require additional preparation or removal.
