Planning roofing work around people and operations
Roofing work can affect the people below as well as the crew on the roof. Access equipment, falling materials, open roof areas and deliveries all need to be considered before work starts. Tell Total Cladding and Roofing about occupied areas, restricted access and any activities that cannot be interrupted.
Keeping work areas separate from building users
A loading dock, public entrance or pedestrian route may sit directly below the proposed work. The project plan needs to establish where materials will be lifted, where work areas will be restricted and how people will reach the building. If a route must close temporarily, that needs to be agreed with the site contact.
Roof access and concealed hazards
Fragile rooflights, damaged decking and unsecured openings can make a roof unsafe to walk on. Suspected structural damage or hazardous materials may require specialist assessment before roofing work proceeds. A photograph or drone survey does not establish that a roof is safe for access.
What the site team needs to know
Let us know about fire procedures, security checks, sensitive equipment and roof-mounted services. The planned roofing method determines whether work could create noise, dust, odors or an interruption below. Requirements for training evidence, insurance and project safety documents can be included in the tender or discussed before mobilization.
Discuss access before the project starts
Contact TCR with the property address and proposed work. A clear site contact and early discussion of access restrictions help establish a workable roofing plan. Current company information is available through our qualifications and memberships page.
