Making better use of an existing commercial roof
Repairing a sound roof can avoid unnecessary removal, while a deteriorated or wet assembly may need replacement. Total Cladding and Roofing assesses the condition of the materials that would remain before discussing restoration, an overlay or a new roof. Retaining materials is useful only when they can still perform their role.
Repair, restore or replace?
A local defect may need a compatible repair. A wider restoration project can include repairs, preparation and a suitable protective coating. Replacement becomes a different proposition when insulation is wet, panels are severely corroded or the supporting construction needs work. Comparing those conditions gives a more useful answer than choosing the option with the least initial waste.
Insulation and reflective finishes
Insulation reduces heat flow through the roof; a reflective finish reduces absorbed solar heat at the surface. Their effect on the building’s energy use depends on the whole assembly, climate and how the building is heated or cooled. An energy assessment can help where operating-cost savings are a deciding factor.
Removal, recycling and practical limits
Metal and other removed materials need an appropriate destination, but contamination, bonded components and local recycling arrangements can limit recovery. Suspected hazardous materials require assessment before disturbance. The removal method, waste arrangements and any specialist work affect both the price and the project sequence.
Compare options for your building
Contact TCR with the roof’s condition, known leaks and your priorities. We can discuss the roofing work needed to retain useful materials, improve the assembly or prepare for a planned replacement. Share any energy target or project specification at the outset so it can be considered alongside the roof condition.
