The one-page product data sheet for Acrylic Butter-Grade 221, document PDS-050521, describes a water-based, high-solids elastomeric sealant made from an acrylic resin. The sheet says the caulk is plasticizer-free, flexible, fully compatible with other American WeatherStar elastomeric products, and contains a mildewcide and fungicide.

Basic uses listed are sealing mechanical fasteners and vertical seams on metal roofs, and sealing around flashings, drains and penetrations on most roof surfaces. The sheet names asphaltic roofing, metal, concrete, wood and polyurethane as surfaces with good adhesion, and says other surfaces should be checked for adhesion. The product is supplied ready to use, and thinning is not required or recommended. Application is with a synthetic bristle brush.

The technical data table gives 66 ± 2% solids by volume, 200% elongation, 325 psi tensile strength, 90,000 ± 10,000 cps viscosity, 11.3 ± .2 pounds per gallon and a Shore A hardness of 45. Permeability is 5 perms per inch at a 20-mil coating. Drying time is 2 to 24 hours, the service temperature range is -40°F to 200°F, the minimum application temperature is 50°F, and the color is white. Packaging is 5-gallon.
