The one-page product data sheet for Color Prime 915, document PDS-031925, describes a two-component, water-based epoxy primer. The sheet says it enhances adhesion to metal roofs before High-Gloss Acrylic 215 is applied, and that it also serves as a bonding primer on metals, organic polymers, masonry, copper and wood. It can also be used as a masonry block filler.
The sheet gives mixing instructions: mix Part A and Part B separately, combine them and power mix. The primer can be brushed, rolled or sprayed. If blowholes form as it dries, a second pass with a relatively dry roller is made after 8 to 10 minutes. The product must not be applied when the ambient temperature is below 50°F or when it could fall below 32°F within 24 hours, and it has a four-hour pot life once mixed.
The technical data table gives 45 ± 2% solids by volume (ASTM D-2697), 56 ± 2% solids by weight (ASTM D-1644), adhesion of 5A (D-3359), pencil hardness of H at 7 days (D1186), VOC below 100 grams per liter (EPA Method 24), a maximum continuous temperature of 180°F and a flash point above 212°F for the mixed product. Dry time is 2 to 3 hours at 75°F. Coverage is 1 gallon per 200 to 400 square feet. Part A is black, Part B is clear, and the mixed product is black. Packaging is a 5-gallon pail of Part A with 4 gallons and a 1-gallon pail of Part B.
