Overview
Landmark is the base shingle of CertainTeed's Landmark line: a two-piece laminated asphalt shingle sold in standard and algae-resistant (AR) versions. It uses the NailTrak nailing feature, and complex granule color blends with subtle shadow lines make up its color selection.
In residential shingle roofing, plain Landmark is the line member listed with 65 shingles per square, about 98.4 square feet of coverage per square and a weight of 211 to 225 lb per square. It is a separate product from Landmark PRO, Landmark TL and Landmark Solaris.
Materials and construction
Landmark has a fiber glass mat base, ceramic-coated mineral granules embedded in refined, water-resistant asphalt, and two laminated pieces bonded with a special asphaltic cement. Every shingle has self-sealing adhesive strips.
Landmark AR shingles help protect against dark or black discoloration, sometimes called staining or streaking, caused by blue-green algae (Gloeocapsa magma). They are not available in all regions. The colors offered for Landmark AR in each region are listed in the product brochure and on the CertainTeed website.
