CertainTeed
CertainTeed is a North American manufacturer of exterior and interior building products, with residential and commercial customers. It is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, a parent company that has operated since 1665. CertainTeed reports more than 6,300 employees and over 60 manufacturing facilities across the United States and Canada.
Its roofing business began with asphalt roof shingles. George Brown began making asphalt roof shingles in 1904.
The Technical Library lists 46 CertainTeed residential roofing products. They fall into several groups.
Architectural and designer shingles. The Landmark family includes Landmark, Landmark PRO, Landmark TL, Landmark PWR, other Landmark variants, Landmark Solaris, Landmark PRO Solaris, Landmark TL Solaris and Landmark ClimateFlex. Other named shingles are Belmont, Cedar Crest, Carriage House, Grand Manor, Highland Slate, Mountain Ridge, Patriot, Patriot XL, NorthGate ClimateFlex, Shadow Ridge, Shadow Ridge XL, Shadow Ridge ClimateFlex, Shangle Ridge, XT 25 and DiamondDeck.
Presidential shingles. The Presidential line includes Presidential Shake, Presidential Shake IR, Presidential Shake TL, Presidential Solaris and Presidential TL Solaris.
Solar roofing. Solstice Shingle and SunStyle are the solar roofing products in the library. CertainTeed also sells Solstice Panels.
Underlayments and waterproofing. The library includes RoofRunner, RoofRunner Air, WinterGuard HT-X, WinterGuard Sand and Granular, Vycor Ultra, Vycor Select, Vycor Ice & Water Shield and Vycor Ice & Water Shield HT. Self-adhering underlayment is used at vulnerable areas, and water-resistant underlayment is the second barrier.
Starters, ridge and ventilation. SwiftStart, SwiftStart SA Rolled Starter, High Performance Starter and Presidential Starter are the starter products listed. Ridge Vent, Rolled Ridge Vent and Intake Vent are the ventilation products.
CertainTeed publishes a standard shingle wind rating of 110 mph, rising to 130 mph with the right starter shingles and hip and ridge accessories. Its shingles carry a UL Class A fire rating and a UL Class 3 or Class 4 impact rating. StreakFighter algae protection is offered on its shingles. The Integrity Roof System is a coordinated set of CertainTeed roofing components. A FORTIFIED-compliant roof system is also offered.
