RoofRunner Air

RoofRunner AIR is a breathable synthetic roof underlayment from CertainTeed with a multilayer coated structure. It is made for roof decks as a water-resistant layer beneath asphalt roofing shingles, and is also listed for use under slate, wood, metal and tile. Its permeable layers let moisture escape from the deck. It is a scrim-reinforced product.

RoofRunner AIR has three layers.

• A porous non-woven protective top layer, with a surface treatment for slip resistance, including when wet
• A monolithic middle layer
• A coated base for adhesion and grip to the roof deck, which reduces wrinkles during roll out and limits stretching around roofing nails

The underlayment remains flexible at all temperatures.

RoofRunner AIR conforms to the performance requirements of ASTM D226 and CSA A123.3 Type 3, ASTM E108 Class A fire resistance and CSA A220.1. It is QAI approved under B1107-1. It is part of CertainTeed's FORTIFIED Compliant Roof System in the U.S.

The 180-day ultraviolet rating comes from standard accelerated QUV testing and refers to the product not degrading physically in UV; it is not related to withstanding water, snow or wind. RoofRunner AIR is water resistant and is not a waterproof primary barrier. It is not used as a temporary roof, and primary roofing is installed immediately after the underlayment where possible.

It is used beneath asphalt shingle roofing and the other covering types listed above. The product is protected by the CertainTeed Lifetime Limited Warranty.
