Overview

Shadow Ridge is a perforated asphalt hip and ridge shingle from CertainTeed, sold as an accessory to field shingles. It is made in two package formats, called English and Metric, and availability of each depends on sales region.

It is installed on hips and ridges only after the primary roofing shingles have been applied to both intersecting roof decks. Its colors are chosen to complement the shingles on the main roof. The Landmark Series and Landmark TL shingles are the field shingles it matches. It is made only as an Algae Resistant (AR) shingle.

Composition

Shadow Ridge has a fiber glass mat base. Ceramic coated mineral granules are embedded in refined, water-resistant asphalt. Algae resistance is marketed under the StreakFighter name.

Each factory piece is a single strip with perforated lines. The installer folds along the perforations to separate it into individual hip and ridge shingles. A reinforced nailing area and an adhesive strip are built in, and the shingle is fastened with standard roofing nails.
