SunStyle

CertainTeed SunStyle is a solar roof shingle in the form of a diamond-pattern glass tile that makes a continuous building-integrated roof plane. It belongs to CertainTeed's residential integrated solar roofing products. The Black basic shingle is rated at 110 Wp per shingle.

The diamond layout uses active solar tiles together with matching non-generating tiles, which carry the roof pattern through areas outside the solar array. The diamond direction is fixed and is not rotated to another pattern. The tiles form the residential roof covering itself as a building-integrated roof plane.

The tiles are used on residential and small commercial roofs. Together the solar tiles and structural roofing materials form a single uniform plane. Custom-shaped tiles fit around penetrations and architectural features, and each project is tailored in roofline, layout and solar configuration.

The SunStyle product line was founded in Switzerland in 2007. The product SKU is prfa-503.

SunStyle is built in the layers glass, EVA, cells, EVA, glass. The cells are PERC monocrystalline. The front and back glass are each 3.2 mm thick tempered solar glass.

The junction box is from Renhe or TE Connectivity, with one bypass diode per shingle. The connection cable is 4 mm2 solar cable, 800 mm long, fitted with MC-4 or TE PV4-S connectors.

One shingle measures 34 1/4 inches by 34 1/4 inches (870 mm by 870 mm). Weight is 4.4 lbs/ft2 (21.5 kg/m2). The roof pitch is 2:12 or greater. The temperature range is -40 degrees F to +185 degrees F.

The values below are given at standard test conditions of 1000 W/m2, 25 degrees C and air mass 1.5, for the Black basic shingle.

SunStyle carries a 25 year product guarantee. The performance guarantee is 10 years at 90% of nominal output and 25 years at 80% of nominal output.
