TruDefinition Duration

TruDefinition Duration is an architectural asphalt shingle from Owens Corning for steep-slope roofs in the United States. It is the base shingle of the Duration range and is made with SureNail Technology. It belongs to the asphalt shingle roofing family. SureNail Technology is a woven fabric reinforcing strip in the nailing zone on the shingle's top surface. It overlays the two shingle layers. The nailing zone has Triple Layer Protection and a bond between the shingle layers up to 200 percent wider than standard shingles. The amount of Triple Layer Protection can vary from shingle to shingle. The shingle uses Tru-Bond, a proprietary asphalt sealant blended by Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt, LLC.

Copper-lined granules developed by 3M are blended into the colored shingles. The shingles are algae resistant to control algae growth and discoloration.

The Class 3 impact rating comes from laboratory testing. Hail damage is excluded from coverage under the terms of the warranty.

• Limited lifetime warranty for as long as the owner owns the home; 40 years on commercial projects.
• Wind resistance limited warranty up to 160 mph, which applies when Owens Corning component requirements are met and starter shingles are installed on the eaves and rakes.
• Algae resistance limited warranty of 25 years, which requires an Owens Corning Hip and Ridge product.
• TRU PROtection non-prorated limited warranty period of 10 years.

The Owens Corning Total Protection Roofing System groups the shingle with hip and ridge shingles, starter shingles, exhaust vents, intake vents, self-adhered ice and water barrier, synthetic underlayment and PINK Fiberglas blown-in attic insulation.
