Patriot

Patriot is a CertainTeed laminated asphalt shingle in the residential shingle roofing category. The Patriot AR (algae-resistant) version is built on a fiber glass mat base with strict dimensional tolerance. Granule color blends give a classic color selection.

Patriot is produced with the NailTrak nailing feature. Patriot AR shingles help protect against dark or black discoloration, sometimes called staining or streaking, caused by blue-green algae (gloeocapsa magma). Colors of Patriot AR vary by region.

The Patriot AR granule surface is ceramic-coated mineral granules set in refined, water-resistant asphalt over the fiber glass mat. The two pieces of a Patriot AR shingle are laminated together in an asphaltic cement. All Patriot shingles have self-sealing adhesive strips.

The shingle has a dual-layer design that resembles wood shake. QuadraBond secures the shingle layers together at four points, CertaSeal seals the roof against wind and weather, and NailTrak provides a wider nailing area. Specified CertainTeed starter and hip and ridge products are used with it.

Patriot is used on roofs with slopes greater than 2 inches per foot. On Patriot AR, slopes from 2:12 to less than 4:12 call for additional underlayment. Where eave icing can back water up under Patriot AR, CertainTeed WinterGuard Waterproofing Shingle Underlayment or an equivalent is applied.

CertainTeed Shadow Ridge shingles of a like color cap the hips and ridges. Patriot AR shingles carry a lifetime or 40-year transferable limited warranty, depending on ownership and building type, against manufacturing defects for the original owner, plus up to 10 years of SureStart Protection and a 10-year algae resistance warranty.
