Overview
CertainTeed Shadow Ridge XL is a hip and ridge accessory shingle that fits over the peak of a residential roof. It is designed as the hip and ridge accessory for CertainTeed Patriot XL shingles, and its colors complement the shingle colors on the main roof. Colors and availability vary by region; Sablewood is one color shown. It is part of CertainTeed's Integrity Roof System.
Shadow Ridge XL is used on the hips and ridges of asphalt shingle roofs only after the primary shingles are applied to both intersecting roof decks.

Format
Overall size is 13-1/4 inches by 39-3/8 inches, supplied in Metric dimensions. The overall shingle yields three caps of 13-1/4 inches by 13-1/8 inches. It is a three-piece shingle, separated along perforated lines by folding. Weather exposure is 5-5/8 inches. Weight is approximately 63 lbs. per bundle.
Hip and ridge layering
Shadow Ridge XL can be installed as a single-layer hip and ridge, or the tabs can be superimposed to form a double-layer hip and ridge. Folding the shingle on itself forms a triple-layer hip and ridge, the arrangement that maximizes the dimensional accent.
Standard roofing nails are used to install it.
Composition
The shingle has a fiber glass mat base. Ceramic coated granules are tightly embedded in specially refined, water-resistant asphalt.
