Solstice Shingle

CertainTeed Solstice Shingle is a low-profile photovoltaic shingle for installation within an asphalt shingle roof. It belongs to CertainTeed's residential integrated solar roofing products and is rated at 70 W per shingle at standard test conditions.

The shingle is installed directly on roof sheathing with standard deck screws. Raised fastener locations and water channels are part of the shingle design. The solar shingles are laid within a field of asphalt shingles, so the array and the surrounding roof covering share one roof plane.

The exposed area of one Solstice Shingle is 46 inches by 13-5/8 inches. One shingle weighs 12.7 pounds, which is 2.3 pounds per square foot. The minimum roof pitch is 2/12.

The tested and passed temperature range is -40 to +85 degrees C.

The shingles are installed directly on roof sheathing using standard deck screws, with standard roofing practices. The wind speed rating is 110 mph, and the shingle is rated for installation in any wind zone, including Florida's high velocity hurricane zone.

The 25 year warranty covers the performance of the solar panels and the integrity of the shingles. The product SKU is prfa-498.

Each shingle carries 14 monocrystalline PERC cells connected in series, with two bypass diodes per shingle. Wiring is 12 AWG PV wire. The connectors are Renhe RHC2 on both leads.

Two lead lengths are published, measured from the junction box to the connector tip: 25.69 inches and 42.13 inches.

The values below are given at standard test conditions of 25 degrees C, 1000 W/m2 and air mass 1.5.
