Overview
Briarwood Pro is an architectural asphalt shingle from Atlas Roofing, made for steep-slope roofs in the United States. It belongs to the Atlas asphalt shingle range and is a current Atlas product.
The shingle is built with Atlas HP42 shingle technology, the wide-format construction that Atlas also uses on its Pinnacle, ProLam and StormMaster shingles. Within the range, Briarwood Pro is a separate line with its own name, color set and data sheet.

Algae resistance
Briarwood Pro uses 3M Scotchgard Protector granules. The granules contain copper and carry a proprietary 3M porous ceramic coating. Copper ions release slowly from the granules to help prevent algae streaks.
The same Scotchgard Protector technology is used on StormMaster Shake, Pinnacle Impact, Pinnacle Sun and Pinnacle Pristine shingles.
Wind rating and warranty
The Atlas Lifetime Limited Warranty applies to Briarwood Pro. Atlas rates the shingle for protection against winds up to 130 mph, and the wind rating is attributed to HP42 technology.
Colors
Briarwood Pro comes in seven colors:
- Midnight Lake
- Summer Storm
- Copper Canyon
- Blackstone
- Chestnut
- Granite
- Majestic
The colors fall into four families: black, brown, red and gray. Color blends vary from shingle to shingle. Photos and sample boards are guidelines for color, and full-size shingles show the final color.
Place in the Atlas shingle range
The Atlas asphalt shingle range for steep-slope roofing includes ProLam, Pinnacle Pristine, Pinnacle Sun, Pinnacle Impact and StormMaster Shake. Those five lines share a 42 inch by 14 inch shingle with a 6 inch exposure and 18 to 20 shingles per bundle. They are rated UL 790 Class A for fire and UL 2390 Class H for wind, and they are listed as Florida Building Code approved (FL 16305) and Miami-Dade County Product Control approved.
Their impact ratings differ by line: ProLam, Pinnacle Pristine and Pinnacle Sun are UL 2218 Class 3, while Pinnacle Impact and StormMaster Shake are UL 2218 Class 4. Briarwood Pro is a separate line with its own seven-color set.
Application
Briarwood Pro is installed on steep-slope roofs, the same setting as other asphalt shingle roofing products in the Atlas range. Atlas publishes a product data sheet and installation instructions for Briarwood Pro.
