Authentic Exterior Panels

Authentic is a natural-look high-pressure laminate (HPL) panel, also called phenolic cladding, for exterior use. It is a separate product family from Max Compact Exterior decor panels. Both can form the visible layer of a rainscreen façade.

Authentic panels have no additional color layer, so the raw material remains visible. Every panel has a different look. Authentic Natural Panels sit beside Max Compact Exterior, Max Compact Interior, Max Compact Interior Plus and Max Resistance2 in the Fundermax range.

The panel is a cladding component. It does not replace the backing wall or the water barrier of drained and back-ventilated rainscreen wall systems.

Authentic panels are duromer high-pressure laminates in accordance with EN 438-6 type EDF, with a weather-protection surface of double-hardened acrylic polyurethane resin. Max Compact panels are produced with the patented NT technology by Fundermax. They are double-sided balanced panels.

Max Compact panels contain natural fiber, about 65 percent by weight, mostly wood processed into kraft papers. The kraft papers are impregnated with synthetic thermosetting resins, dried, and pressed under high pressure and heat. The panels contain no organic halogen compounds, no asbestos, no wood-protection agents, and no sulphur, mercury or cadmium. The phenol and melamine blends contain no urea-formaldehyde.

The exposed yet protected core layers give a natural, leather-like appearance over time.

The Authentic color range has three colors:

• Mocca, code AU01
• Pecan, code AU02
• Caramel, code AU03

Three finishes are offered:

• NT, standard
• NY, Sky
• NH, Hexa, which has a deeper surface texture than NT and NY

Color varies between panels because of raw-material and production differences. Cut pieces are mixed during mounting.

Two Authentic formats are offered:

• JU: 161 3/8 by 51 3/16 inches (4100 by 1300 mm)
• XL: 161 3/8 by 73 inches (4100 by 1854 mm)

Thickness depends on the finish:

• NT: 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 15/32 and 1/2 inch (6, 8, 10, 12 and 13 mm)
• NY: 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 15/32 and 1/2 inch (6, 8, 10, 12 and 13 mm)
• NH: 5/8, 11/16 and 25/32 inch (16, 18 and 20 mm)

Authentic panels have these listed properties: scratch resistance, graffiti resistance, a non-porous surface that cleans easily, resistance to solvents and chemicals, UV and weather resistance, high flatness and flexural strength, and impact resistance to EN ISO 178.

Temperature resistance runs from -112°F to +356°F. The panels are warranted for vertical and horizontal applications. They are rated Class A for fire. Intertek CCRR Report #0527 applies. Max Compact Exterior panels in the stock program list ASTM E84 Class A, and NFPA 285 compliant assemblies are available.

Authentic panels are listed for rainscreen façades, outdoor furniture, wall cladding, partition walls, railings, gates and doors, balconies, soffits, sunshades and other building applications, ranging from rainscreen façades to balcony flooring.

Four exterior fastening approaches are offered:

• Exposed fastened, with screws or rivets
• Large panel concealed fastened
• Modulo, a lightweight closed-joint façade system with a treated lumber or aluminum substructure; NFPA 285 compliant assemblies are available
• Scaleo, a prefabricated lap siding system

Modulo and Scaleo are factory fabricated, concealed rainscreen systems with closed joints. They are offered in 120+ decors and four textures.
