Overview
AXCENT is a 0.040-inch solid aluminum flat sheet from ALUCOBOND, the 3A Composites brand. It is sold for metal trim and formed accessories on building projects, including drip edge and parapet coping on roof systems and sill, head and jamb pieces for curtain wall and window systems.
AXCENT is made as a companion to ALUCOBOND PLUS. It is used at parapet caps, drip edges, window heads, sills, jambs, soffits and canopies on projects clad in that composite panel, and it is not a substitute for a composite panel attachment system.
Two trim systems use the sheet, Window Surround Trim and Flashing and Parapet Cap. Other uses named are canopies, soffits and system enclosures and trim of various shapes.
Material and construction
The sheet is 0.040 inch thick and is made from 3003, 3104 or 3105 aluminum coils to ASTM B209. Each sheet is tension leveled.
The minimum yield strength is 19 ksi and the Brinell hardness is 40. The minimum bend radius is 2T, meaning two times the sheet thickness.

Coating
AXCENT sheets are coated with chemically inert coatings. The back side of each sheet carries an epoxy clear coat. Cleaning follows the ALUCOBOND PLUS Material Cleaning Guide.
Masking and handling
Sheets ship with removable masking that protects them during transport and fabrication. The masking is suitable for laser cutting. The film is removed as soon as possible after installation, especially in areas of heat and sunlight.
Typical uses
On roof systems the sheet is formed into drip edge and parapet coping. At curtain wall and window systems it is formed into sill, head and jamb trim. Where the wall is clad in ALUCOBOND PLUS, the same formed pieces finish soffits and canopies. Panels of this kind appear on the metal wall panels and flush panel installations that use formed aluminum trim at their edges and openings.
