Overview

ALUCOBOND Wet Seal is a four-sided route-and-return panel assembly made from ALUCOBOND PLUS, a 4 mm aluminum composite panel. The joint is continuously sealed. The panel has four 90-degree folds and a four-sided attachment.

Panel fasteners are concealed and no fasteners are exposed. Continuous foam backer rod and silicone form the exposed joint seal. The system is tested to AAMA 501.

Components in the drawings

The detail book is a 131-page set of conceptual drawings dated 2025, drawn at a scale of 3 inches to 1 foot. The components labeled are:

  • 4 mm ALUCOBOND PLUS panel
  • Extruded aluminum attachment system
  • Shop applied rivet or screw
  • Backer rod and silicone seal at the joint
  • Weather resistive barrier and exterior sheathing
  • Sub-girt and continuous insulation in the insulated assemblies
  • 0.040-inch AXCENT aluminum, finished to match the ALUCOBOND PLUS finish
  • Metal angle painted to match ALUCOBOND PLUS

Joint types

The drawings include a proud panel joint, a proud panel fin and an expanded reveal joint. The expanded reveal joint is labeled 12 inches maximum without additional backside support. The base detail shows a 4-inch minimum dimension, and the weep hole is drawn at the base and window conditions.

Substrate assemblies

  • Sheathing with exterior insulation
  • Sheathing with no exterior insulation
  • CMU, with the panel against exterior CMU
