Product overview
Dri-Design MA-X M63 is the 0.063-inch aluminum version of the MA-X large-format wall panel platform. The sheet thickness separates it from M80, which uses 0.080-inch aluminum. MA-X is a drained and back-ventilated modular rainscreen with sequential installation, developed for oversized panels.
The MA-X range includes horizontal and vertical orientations and flat or Shadow configurations.
Materials and depth
- Material: aluminum, 0.063 inch thick, single skin
- Combustibility: the system is non-combustible
- Standard flat depth: 1 1/2 inches
- Maximum flat depth: 4 inches, in 1/8-inch increments

Module size
The maximum standard panel size is 12 feet by 4 feet. That is up to 12 feet wide by 4 feet high in a horizontal arrangement, or up to 4 feet wide by 12 feet high in a vertical arrangement.
Reveals and finishes
M63 has 3/4-inch joints in both directions. Several original Dri-Design systems have unequal standard reveals, and MA-X does not.
Finishes are post-painted 70% PVDF fluoropolymer and clear or colored anodizing on the aluminum substrate.
- Paint finish warranty: up to 20 years
- Anodized finish warranty: 5 years standard, 10 years available
Performance and approvals
MA-X lists wind performance of up to 130 PSF, and wind loads over 100 PSF with the optional cleat. The system is tested for structural integrity, rainscreen and wind performance. HVHZ, impact testing and FL Product approval are pending approval on select configurations.
Cleats and supports
MA-X incorporates a specific panel and cleat design, with an optional cleat for greater structural performance. The configuration of the panel and the cleat attachment is covered by pending patent applications.
In the horizontal details, panels are carried on vertical Z-girts at 16 inches on center with insulation, over exterior-grade sheathing, metal studs and a commercial weather barrier.
Window, jamb and joint conditions
The horizontal M63 details include a storefront sill, a panel head at a window sill and a panel base at a window head. At a window head a tape seal and sealant with backer rod are shown, and flashing is per the window system.
- Jamb terminations at a window and at a wall use an MA-X "L" trim, with sealant and backer rod at the window.
- The 3/4-inch vertical joint and 3/4-inch horizontal joint each have a typical detail.
- A horizontal deflection joint is built on a start track extrusion, with the panel deflection joint placed above the wall deflection joint.
- A top edge extrusion forms the typical horizontal joint.
Cut-to-fit panels at windows use a continuous Attachment J and a structural rivet every 12 inches along the cut edge. A drip flashing is shown with weep holes drilled in the field at 16 inches on center.
