Overview
Vista, Malarkey inventory SKU 251, is a laminated architectural shingle made with NEX polymer-modified asphalt. It belongs to the Architectural category of Malarkey's steep-slope residential shingles and is listed for the United States market. The shingle uses the patented nailing accuracy design of The Zone.
Vista is one of the asphalt shingles in the range, and its published impact rating is UL 2218 Class 4. Vista, Vista AR and Vista Cool are separate designations.
Materials and construction
Vista is manufactured on a non-woven fiberglass mat impregnated on both sides with NEX polymer-modified bitumen (asphalt) compounded with a fire-retardant mineral stabilizer. Its ceramic granules give varied color and weatherability and include 3M Smog-Reducing Granules. Other granules add solar reflectivity. The shingle has a double rain seal.

- The minimum slope is 2:12 (2 inches [51 mm] per 12 inches [305 mm]).
- From 2:12 up to 4:12 a double layer of underlayment is required, with the IBC and IRC exception for a single layer of ASTM D1970 underlayment.
- The factory-applied self-sealing strip activates in warm weather; hand-sealing is recommended in cold weather or windy locations.
- For Vista, slopes beyond 21 inches (533 mm) per 12 inches (305 mm) call for six nails and hand-sealing underneath.
