Overview
CF Tuff Wall is a stucco-like insulated metal wall panel from Metl-Span with a polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core. The exterior surface is a hard aggregated, fiber-reinforced polymer coating applied in the factory as the Tuff Cote finish system. It is a concealed-fastener panel used on commercial and industrial buildings in the United States.
The coating resists impact and abrasion. The exterior finish carries a 10-year limited warranty. The panel is a member of the insulated metal wall panels range, where it is the textured, coated option.
Dimensions

Faces and profile
The exterior face is stucco-embossed G-90 galvanized and/or AZ-50 aluminum-zinc coated steel in 24 or 22 gauge, with the Tuff Cote finish system applied at the factory. Panels 2, 2-1/2, 3 and 4 in. thick have no exterior profile. Panels 5 and 6 in. thick have a Mesa profile nominally 1/8 in. deep.
The interior face is stucco-embossed G-90 galvanized and/or AZ-50 coated steel in 26, 24 or 22 gauge, with a Light Mesa profile nominally 1/16 in. deep.
Finishes
- Exterior texture: Tuff Cote finish system
- Finish options recorded: Applied Finishes and Igloo White
- Metallic finishes can show color shift, shade variance, striations and longitudinal patterning
- Light Stone in the Tuff Cote system does not match Light Stone in the Standard SP offering
Core and joint
The core is foamed-in-place PIR foam, a zero ozone depletion potential Class 1 foam. The joint is an offset double tongue-and-groove with an extended metal shelf for positive face fastening. Concealed clips eliminate thermal short circuits.
Thermal values
The k-factor is 0.112 at 35°F (1.6°C), based on ASTM C518, ASTM C1363 and thermal modeling. Values below are for a 42 in. width at 35°F.
- 2 in.: U-factor 0.058, R-value 17.9
- 2-1/2 in.: U-factor 0.045, R-value 22.4
- 3 in.: U-factor 0.038, R-value 26.9
- 4 in.: U-factor 0.028, R-value 35.9
- 5 in.: U-factor 0.022, R-value 44.8
- 6 in.: U-factor 0.019, R-value 53.8
Fire testing and approvals
- ASTM E84: flame spread under 25, smoke developed under 450
- ASTM E119: one hour non-load bearing rating with two layers of Type X gypsum, vertical or horizontal installation
- FM 4880: Class 1 fire rating, product approved; an exterior wall requires FM 4881 approval
- NFPA 285-19: the panel assembly met the requirements of the standard
- NFPA 286: the specimen met the criteria of IBC Section 803.1.2.1
- CAN/ULC S101: one hour non-load bearing rating with two layers of Type X gypsum, and the 10 minute stay-in-place requirement
- CAN/ULC S102, S134 and S138: met the requirements of each standard
Structural, air and water performance
- ASTM E72: results in a load chart
- FM 4881: Class 1 exterior wall structural performance, with a VSH rating in the FM Approval listings
- ASTM E283: air infiltration under 0.04 cfm/ft² at 1.57 psf
- ASTM E2357: under 0.04 cfm/ft² at 1.57 psf after 2,000 cycles at +/- 16.71 psf, with and without penetrations
- ASTM E331: no uncontrolled leakage at 6.24 psf for 2 hours
State of Florida product approval is held; the approval does not include the High Velocity Hurricane Zone.
