What Trespa Pura NFC is
Trespa Pura NFC is an exterior high-pressure laminate (HPL) siding system supplied in plank format. It is used as the outer layer of ventilated façades, and it belongs to the Trespa range of decorative laminates for rainscreen cladding. The US product page shows the decorative face of the material and lists three plank sizes.
The material is an 8 mm outdoor panel made of natural fibers and thermosetting resins, with natural fibers making up to 70 percent of the material. It has a one-sided decorative surface with an electron-beam-cured transparent topcoat. The grade listed for this product is EDF, the fire-retardant grade, under EN 438-6.
The product is listed for new construction, renovation, multifamily and commercial buildings. Pura NFC is one of the products that fall within the scope of insulated wall and rainscreen systems built from high-pressure laminate planks.
Materials and construction
Pura NFC is a decorative high-pressure compact laminate conforming to EN 438-6:2016, 8 mm thick, for outdoor applications. The sheets consist of layers of natural fibers, paper and wood, impregnated with thermosetting resins. A surface layer on one side carries the decorative color.
A transparent topcoat is added to the surface layer and cured by Trespa's in-house Electron Beam Curing (EBC) process. The components are bonded under simultaneous heat and high specific pressure. The Electron Beam Curing process produces a closed, smooth surface. The result is a homogeneous closed material with increased density and an integral decorative surface.
The listed data relate to the products in the Trespa Pura NFC standard delivery program.

Plank sizes and tolerances
The US product page gives three plank sizes, labeled S, M and L. Each is 3,050 mm long, and thickness is listed as 0.31 in (8 mm). The three sizes can be combined on one wall, and the planks can be installed horizontally or vertically.
- S: 3,050 by 186 mm
- M: 3,050 by 366 mm
- L: 3,050 by 546 mm
Thickness tolerance is plus or minus 0.50 mm (plus or minus 0.0197 in). Flatness is no more than 2 mm per meter (0.024 in per foot). Length and width tolerance is plus 5 mm and minus 0 (plus 0.1968 in and minus 0). Straightness of edges is no more than 1 mm per meter (0.012 in per foot). The US values are approximate conversions from metric.
Surface quality
Surface quality is rated under EN 438-2, section 4. Spots, dirt and similar surface defects are limited to no more than 2 mm² per m² (0.0003 in² per ft²). Fibers, hairs and scratches are limited to no more than 20 mm per m² (0.073 in per ft²).
Physical and mechanical properties
- Density: at least 1.35 g/cm³ (EN ISO 1183).
- Flexural strength: at least 120 MPa (EN ISO 178).
- Modulus of elasticity: at least 9,000 MPa (EN ISO 178).
- Tensile strength: at least 70 MPa (EN ISO 527-2).
- Pull-out strength: at least 3,000 N (ISO 13894-1, resistance to fixings).
- Impact by large diameter ball (EN 438-2, section 21): indentation diameter no more than 10 mm (0.38 in) with a drop height of 1.8 m.
- Dimensional stability at elevated temperature (EN 438-2, section 17): cumulative dimensional change no more than 0.25 percent longitudinal and 0.25 percent transversal.
- Resistance to wet conditions (EN 438-2, section 15): mass increase no more than 3 percent, appearance rating of at least 4.
Weather resistance
- Climatic shock (EN 438-2, section 19): flexural strength index (Ds) and flexural modulus index (Dm) each at least 0.80, appearance rating at least 4.
- Artificial weathering, West European cycle (EN 438-2, section 29): contrast of 4-5 on the gray scale (ISO 105 A02), appearance rating at least 4.
- Artificial weathering, Florida cycle, 3,000 hours (Trespa Standard): contrast of 4-5 on the gray scale, appearance rating at least 4.
- Resistance to SO2 (DIN 50018): contrast of 4-5 on the gray scale, appearance rating at least 4.
Fire performance
Reaction to fire under EN 438-7 is Euroclass B-s2, d0. Material surface burning characteristics under ASTM E84 are Class A, with a flame spread index of 0 to less than 25 and a smoke developed index of 0 to less than 50.
The laboratory results are not intended to represent hazards that may be present under actual fire conditions. For multi-story applications, where building codes may require full-scale fire testing in accordance with NFPA 285 (US), Trespa directs readers to its website, trespa.info.
