Algae and smog technology
The shingle features 3M Scotchgard Protector against black streaks caused by algae, and 3M Smog-Reducing Granules with a patented photocatalytic coating that converts smog into nutrient-rich plant food.
In the shake-style shingle the Scotchgard Protector granules contain copper under a proprietary 3M porous ceramic coating. Copper ions are released slowly.
The smog-reducing granules convert nitrogen oxide gases into nitrate that washes away with rain.
