QuadCore Optimo

QuadCore Optimo is a flat-profile insulated metal wall panel in the Kingspan Insulated Panel Systems range. It is the Optimo panel built with QuadCore Technology, Kingspan's hybrid insulation core. The panel has a flat exterior face, an interior face of Shadowline or flat, and a soft, non-directional embossed stucco or smooth texture. It can be applied horizontally or vertically and uses a patented double seal integrated joint.

Recorded applications are architectural walls, horizontal and vertical wall applications, new construction, and retrofit and recladding. The panel is used in the cold storage, commercial and industrial market sectors. It belongs to the KS Series family of wall panels, which includes Optimo, Azteco, Granitstone, Mini-Wave, Mini Micro-Rib, Micro-Rib, Shadowline and Vektra. Optimo joins selected KS Series profiles through a common joint.

The published specification for QuadCore Optimo is as follows.

• Insulation core: QuadCore Technology.
• Exterior profile: flat. Interior profile: Shadowline or flat.
• Embossing: stucco or non-embossed on both faces.
• Gauge: 22 ga on the exterior face; 26, 24 or 22 ga on the interior face.
• Width: 24, 30, 36 or 40 inches.
• Thickness: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 or 6 inches.
• Length: 8 feet to 32 feet for embossed panels; 8 feet to 20 feet for non-embossed panels.
• Reveal option: 1/8, 3/8, 1 or 2 inches. Standard reveals are 1/8 inch for vertical applications and 3/8 inch for horizontal applications.
• Orientation: vertical or horizontal.
• Post fabrication, optional: trimless ends, folded corners and transverse bends, with manufacturing limitations.
• R-value: about 8 per inch at a 75°F mean temperature and about 9 per inch at a 35°F mean temperature, both to ASTM C518.

The panel is made by a foamed-in-place manufacturing process. Panels can be ordered with factory-caulked side joints, which are not available for cold storage applications.

Published R-values to ASTM C518 by panel thickness are shown here, first at 35°F and then at 75°F mean temperature.

• 2 inches: R-18 at 35°F and R-16 at 75°F.
• 2.5 inches: R-22.5 and R-20.
• 3 inches: R-27 and R-24.
• 4 inches: R-36 and R-32.
• 5 inches: R-45 and R-40.
• 6 inches: R-54 and R-48.

The QuadCore core is rated at R-8.0 per inch at 75°F.

Panel weights are published in pounds per square foot for each width, with 22 ga exterior facers. The three figures in each line are for interior gauges of 26, 24 and 22 ga.

• 24 inch width: 2 inch panel 2.96, 3.24, 3.51; 6 inch panel 3.76, 4.04, 4.31.
• 30 inch width: 2 inch panel 2.88, 3.15, 3.42; 6 inch panel 3.68, 3.95, 4.22.
• 36 inch width: 2 inch panel 2.82, 3.09, 3.35; 6 inch panel 3.62, 3.89, 4.15.
• 40 inch width: 2 inch panel 2.79, 3.06, 3.32; 6 inch panel 3.59, 3.86, 4.12.

At 40 inches wide, the 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 inch panels with a 22 ga interior weigh 3.42, 3.52, 3.72 and 3.92 pounds per square foot.

Structural performance is recorded under FM 4881 (passed) and ASTM E72 (vacuum chamber tested). Regional approvals and listings printed for the panel are:

The approvals apply to thicknesses of 2 to 6 inches and widths of 24 to 42 inches, with a minimum panel length of 8 feet. The panels also appear in the UL GREENGUARD Gold certification (certificate 86747-420) for Kingspan insulated wall and roof panel systems, tested to UL 2818 - 2022 and UL 2821, with a certificate period of 31 Aug 2017 to 31 Aug 2026.

A QuadCore 30-Year Limited Warranty - Thermal is available only on QuadCore-equipped panels. In the warranty wording, Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc. warrants to the building owner that, for thirty years from the date of sale, the R-value of the foam in the panel will not vary by more than 10 percent from the R-value average published as a specification on the sale date. The warranty applies to product purchased on or after June 1, 2018.

QuadCore Optimo load and span tables are printed for facer gauge combinations of 22/26, 22/24 and 22/22, exterior over interior. Tables are set out by panel width and by supporting steel: 16 ga, 14 ga, 12 ga and 1/4 inch steel at 40 inches wide, and the same support types at 36 inches wide and the other widths.

Optimo is installed with the KS Series vertical and horizontal CAD details and the KS Series installation guide for commercial and industrial wall panels. The vertical set (revisions through 1/30/26) lists panel profiles, three fastening pattern sheets, expanded and engaged panel joints, intermediate supports, and expanded and engaged joints with Leo-Klip and Leo-Klip+ clips and fasteners, including isometric views and the end-of-panel condition. Base details include flush base, base at notched concrete, overhangs with base support, base angle or base J extrusion, and a marriage bead isometric. Corners, framed openings and parapets are shown with flat or profiled trim.
