Format

The Cottage format uses a single 10-inch width. Laying the 10-inch tiles in a staggered installation brings out the cottage style. Custom textures can be added to Cottage tiles.

Old World Cottage format

Old World Cottage is a more aged look in the same family. It is supplied in a mix of 8-inch, 9-inch and 10-inch widths. Ludowici craftsmen hand-warp 15% of the tiles to give a rustic appearance.

Colors and textures

Cottage tiles come standard in a smooth base texture and are available in all standard and custom colors, mists and blends offered by Ludowici.

The standard finish is smooth. Weathered or sanded base textures can be added to the Cottage format, and further custom textures are available.

Approvals and certifications

  • ASTM C1167 Grade 1 Roof Tile with water absorption less than 2%
  • Class A fire rated

The Bonnet Hip Starter, Bonnet Hip Roll and Aries Hip Plate carry an asterisk: the roof slope on each intersecting roof plane must be identical to use those pieces on Cottage.

The Cottage page defines five accessory types for hips and ridges.

  • Terminal: a tile installed at the intersection of hip(s) and ridge(s)
  • Ridge tile: shaped to cover the uppermost horizontal part of the roof
  • Hip starter: installed at the bottom of the hip, also known as a bullnose
