What AngleKut is and where it is used
AngleKut is a beveled closure system from Marco Industries for metal roof panels. The foam strip is cut at an angle so it seals the open area where panels meet at hips and valleys. It is used with exposed-fastener panels in metal roof replacement work, where the closure sits between the panel and the structure.
The beveled design stops heavy and damaging water from getting in and around the hips and valleys of the roof. Because AngleKut can be made at any angle, it fits any metal roof profile. It seals out wind, water, birds and noise.
Typical uses are the construction of barns, warehouses, house roofs and other types of metal roof structures. The product is made in North America. The Marco Weather-Tite System lists it as the custom beveled inside/outside closure.
The closure seals metal roof panels and keeps water out of the roof's hips and valleys. The product's themes are to prevent leaks, protect property and assure ventilation.
Versions and handing
AngleKut is made to order for each closure configuration and each beveled angle. Every version is defined by a set of choices.
- Inside closure: fits the underside of the panel.
- Outside closure: made in left hand and right hand versions, like the inside closure.
- Left hand and right hand: each panel is counted by hand, inside and outside, on the order form.
- Left hand cut and right hand cut: the cut-back angle slants one way or the other. The order key shows a 50 degree cut-back on a right hand cut and a 20 degree cut-back on a left hand cut.
The panel is viewed as a plan view for a roof, or as an elevation view for a wall panel application. The cut-back angle is stated for each separate closure configuration.

Applications
The order form lists three applications: end wall, hip and valley. Each application needs its own configuration and beveled angle.
The beveled design simplifies a valley or hip installation. The finished seal is as air tight as standard 90-degree closure strips.
The roof slope is also stated for each configuration, as rise over run. Slope and cut-back angle together define the bevel on the foam.
Materials
AngleKut beveled closures are made from crosslink polyethylene foam. This is the same material as M-Cell closures. The foam does not bleed, dry out or dissolve with weather and UV exposure. The closures last the lifetime of the building.
The foam is 1-1/2 inch thick. The thickness increases the strength of the beveled closure and seals the open area. The product sheet carries a 40 year warranty badge.
AngleKut is an easy replacement for materials such as polyurethane strips or caulking. The closure is self-adhesive.
The closures do not bleed, dry out or dissolve. Caulking and polyurethane strips are the materials the beveled closure replaces.
Foam properties
The specification listing for the closure foam gives LD24 values. The figures are copied here as printed.
- Nominal density, skin/skin (BS ISO 7214 1998): 24 kg/m3
- Cell size, typical diameter: 0.3 mm
- Compression stress-strain (BS ISO 7214 1998): 34 kPa at 10% compression, 53 kPa at 25%, 85 kPa at 40%, 118 kPa at 50%
- Compression set at 25% compression, 22 hr, 23° C/73° F: 27% set after 1/2 hr recovery and 19% set after 24 hr recovery (25 mm cell-cell)
- Tensile strength (ISO 7214 1998): 320 kPa
- Tensile elongation: 130%
- Tear strength (BS EN ISO 8067 1995): 495 N/m
- Shore hardness, 00 scale, 10 mm cell/cell thickness (ISO 868 1985): 50
- Thermal conductivity at a mean temperature of 10° C/50° F (ISO 8302 1991): 0.0392 W/m.K
The foam passes the automotive flammability test (FMVSS.302 burn rate) at 12 mm and thicker, with a burn rate under 100 mm/min. The horizontal burn rate (ISO 7214 1998) is 2.1 mm/sec at 5 mm thick and 1.5 mm/sec at 13 mm thick.
The recommended operating temperature range is +100° C/-70° C (+212° F/-97° F).
Installation steps
One person can install the closure in three steps.
- The self-adhesive closure configuration must fit the roof panel used.
- The inside closure fits the underside of the panel.
- Place the roof panel over the pre-cut closure configuration for a snug fit. Attach the panel over the closure with Marco QuikGrip or QuikDrill fasteners.
The closure configuration is pre-cut. The panel is attached over the closure with the fasteners named in step 3.
Ordering information
AngleKut is ordered with one simple form, and turnaround is quick. The form is called the AngleKut Easy Order Form. Each closure configuration and each beveled angle is entered separately.
- Panel name.
- Application: end wall, hip or valley.
- Cut-back angle.
- Roof slope, as rise over run.
- Quantity, either as a number of panels or as lineal feet, split into inside left hand, inside right hand, outside left hand and outside right hand.
The form also carries the date, customer P.O. number and job number. Orders can be placed by calling 1-800-800-8590, and the order desk walks the caller through each step. Marco Rapid Response offers free shipping with low minimum orders.
