What the panel is and where it is used
Fasteel Standing Seam Panels are mechanically seamed metal roof panels with a thin rib profile and hidden fasteners. The panels are attached to the roof deck with clips, so no fastener head shows on the finished surface. They suit standing seam metal roofing on architectural and residential roofs, and the 2" version is used on warehouse roofs.
Three versions share the same design, and each is named for its nominal seam height: Standing Seam 1", Standing Seam 1.5" and Standing Seam 2". All three have a minimum slope of 2:12. Each is made with a smooth pan, with 2 ribs, or with striations.
The panel is rated for wind uplift, weather-tight performance and fire exposure, and it carries a 60-year service life with the right substrate. The sections below cover the versions, the materials, the attachment method and the use of each version.
Standing Seam 1" is 1" high at the seam, Standing Seam 1.5" is 1.5" high and Standing Seam 2" is 2" high. Aluminum panels come in .032 and .040 thickness.
Versions and panel widths
Each version has a standard panel width and a range of available widths. The seam height is the nominal height of the standing rib.
- Standing Seam 1": 1" nominal seam height, 18" standard panel width, available from 12" to 24".
- Standing Seam 1.5": 1.5" nominal seam height, 17" standard panel width, available from 12" to 20".
- Standing Seam 2": 2" nominal seam height, 18" standard panel width, available from 15" to 18".
The three versions run from the 1" rib on the lowest profile to the 2" rib on the tallest.
All three versions can be ordered with a smooth surface, with 2 ribs in the pan, or with striations.

Materials, gauges and finishes
The panels are formed from coated steel, copper and aluminum. The range of metals and gauges differs by version.
Standing Seam 1" and Standing Seam 1.5" share one list of materials:
- 26 and 24 Ga Paint Grip
- 24 Ga Acrylic Coated Galvalume
- 24 Ga Kynar 500 Color Finish
- 16 and 20 oz. Copper
- .032 and .040 Aluminum, in an anodized finish or a Kynar 500 color finish
Standing Seam 2" has a shorter list of steel options and no copper:
- 24 Ga Paint Grip
- 24 and 22 Ga Acrylic Coated Galvalume
- 24 Ga Kynar 500 Color Finish
- .032 and .040 Aluminum, in an anodized finish or a Kynar 500 color finish
The 22 Ga Galvalume is available only on the 2" version. Copper is available only on the 1" and 1.5" versions.
How the panels are attached
Every panel is attached to the roof deck with clips. The thin rib profile and the hidden fasteners are the two features that define the system's appearance.
An expansion clip is available for roofs where thermal expansion and contraction of the panel needs to be allowed for.
Seams are closed mechanically. The panels are not snap-together.
The minimum slope is 2:12 for every version. A roof that falls at less than 2:12 is outside the range of the panel.
Standing Seam 1" and Standing Seam 1.5" are also available with copper in 16 and 20 oz. weights, attached with the same clips.
Curved roofs
Standing Seam 1" and Standing Seam 1.5" can curve to a 10-foot convex radius. The clip attachment and the hidden fasteners are the same as on a flat roof.
Standing Seam 2" has no curving radius. A curved roof therefore takes the 1" or the 1.5" version, in the widths given for each: up to 24" for the 1" panel and up to 20" for the 1.5" panel.
Performance ratings
All three versions carry the same three UL ratings:
- UL 580 Class 90 Wind Uplift Rated
- UL 790 Class A Fire Rated
- UL 2218 Class 4 Impact Rated
The 2" version also lists UL Construction #90, #180, #176 and #238 A.
The product line lists wind uplift resistance and weather-tight performance as its two main features. Hidden fasteners and a thin rib profile are listed with them.
With the right substrate, a panel can last up to 60 years.
What each version is for
Standing Seam 1". The lowest rib in the series. It has the widest range of panel widths, 12" to 24", and the widest choice of metals, including copper and aluminum. It can curve to a 10-foot convex radius.
Standing Seam 1.5". A mid-height rib with a 17" standard panel width. Its metals match the 1" version, and it can curve to the same 10-foot convex radius. Widths run from 12" to 20".
Standing Seam 2". The tallest rib, with widths from 15" to 18". It is used on warehouse roofs and carries the UL Construction listings. It is the only version with 22 Ga Acrylic Coated Galvalume. It does not come in copper and is not listed for curving.
The choice between the three comes down to rib height, width range, metal and whether the roof curves. Rib height runs from 1" to 2". Width ranges overlap between 15" and 18". Copper and curving are limited to the two lower ribs, and the heaviest Galvalume and the warehouse use sit with the 2" rib.
