What HighLine Wall is
HighLine is an insulated metal panel from Green Span Profiles. It combines insulated metal technology with the through-fastened R-panel design. The panel is 36 inches wide. It is made for exterior wall and exterior roof use, and the wall version is covered here.
HighLine is made for pre-engineered metal buildings and for a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. It is the lowest-cost insulated panel system in the Green Span Profiles range. The same panel profile serves both roofs and walls, so a building can carry one look across both surfaces. Details on insulated metal panel roofs and walls sit on the service page.
The panel is a sandwich. A metal skin forms the exterior face and a second metal skin forms the interior face. Insulating foam fills the space between the two skins. The exterior face carries the R-panel ribs and the interior face carries a flatter profile.
Sizes and coverage
HighLine Wall is made in a fixed coverage width and in several thicknesses and lengths.
- Coverage width: 36-inch.
- Thickness: 1.5, 2, 3 and 4-inch.
- Length: 8'-0" to 75'-0".
The 36-inch coverage is the width one panel covers once it is lapped into its neighbor. The cross-section drawing marks that dimension along the exterior face. It marks the thickness range of 1.5 inch to 4 inch on the edge of the panel.
Lengths run from 8 feet to 75 feet. The shortest panel is 8 feet long and the longest is 75 feet long. Four thicknesses give four insulation depths. The thinnest is 1.5-inch and the thickest is 4-inch.

Skins, substrates and finishes
Both faces are steel. The exterior face is available in three gauges and the interior face in one.
- Exterior gauge: 26, 24 and 22.
- Interior gauge: 26.
- Exterior substrate: Galvalume.
- Interior substrate: Galvalume or stainless steel.
Galvalume is the coated steel used for the exterior skin on every HighLine Wall panel. The interior skin is Galvalume or stainless steel. Stainless steel is the second interior substrate choice and is a different metal from the coated steel used elsewhere on the panel.
Finishes are listed by face. The exterior finish is siliconized polyester or PVDF. The interior finish is polyester, siliconized polyester or plastisol (PVC).
Texture is listed by face as well. The exterior texture is smooth. The interior texture is embossed or smooth.
Insulating core and R-value
The core is continuously poured-in-place polyisocyanurate insulating foam. The foam is poured between the two metal skins in a continuous process, so the core fills the full thickness of the panel.
The nominal R-value is R-8 per inch of thickness. Each thickness carries a different total. At 1.5-inch the panel holds 1.5 inches of foam-bearing thickness, and at 4-inch it holds 4 inches. R-8 per inch is a nominal figure, and it is stated for each inch of the panel thickness. The same 36-inch HighLine panel is listed for exterior walls and exterior roofs, with a high-lap, overlapping through-fastened joint. Thermal efficiency comes from the polyisocyanurate core. Strength comes from the steel skins bonded to that core.
Joint and panel profile
HighLine uses a high-lap, overlapping through-fastened joint. Neighboring panels overlap at the high rib, and fasteners pass through the panel to hold it in place. This is the joint type of a standard R-panel.
The through-fastened design keeps the panel simple. The data sheet drawing shows the cross-section with its tall ribs spaced across the 36-inch coverage. Each rib stands proud of the flat of the panel. The overlap forms at the panel edge, where one panel laps over the next.
Green Span Profiles lists HighLine under the Commercial/Industrial group. The wall version and the roof version share the same specification lines: 36-inch coverage, four thicknesses, three exterior gauges and one interior gauge. Both versions use a Galvalume exterior skin and a polyisocyanurate core.
The panel installs quickly. The through-fastened R-panel design and the 36-inch width account for that speed. A wider panel covers more wall area per piece, so fewer pieces cover a given wall.
Where each version is used
The panel use is exterior wall and exterior roof. This record covers the wall version, which is sold as HighLine Wall. The roof version is sold as HighLine Roof.
The choice of version follows the building and the surface.
- Exterior wall: HighLine Wall on pre-engineered metal buildings and on commercial and industrial walls.
- Exterior roof: HighLine Roof on the same building types.
- Thickness 1.5-inch and 2-inch: the thinner end of the R-8 per inch range.
- Thickness 3-inch and 4-inch: the thicker end of the range, with more insulating foam.
- Stainless steel interior: the alternative to a Galvalume interior skin.
- PVDF exterior: the alternative to a siliconized polyester exterior finish.
Pre-engineered metal buildings are the building type named for HighLine. Commercial and industrial projects are the wider market. The panel carries the Green Span Profiles tagline Built to Perform, Built to Last, Built Right. The exterior face has a smooth texture, and the interior face has an embossed or smooth texture.
