Identify the MBCI PBR roof section by its filed drawing

MBCI sells PBR as a structural, exposed-fastener metal panel for roofs and walls. This record identifies the section carried in NCI Group drawing R95, sheet 110 of 110, prepared June 10, 2021 and filed with Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance 23-1113.05. The notice was approved June 13, 2024 for 22- and 24-gauge structural Galvalume steel roof panels, with an expiration date of February 27, 2029. MBCI's October 2025 PBR data sheet expressly cites that notice. Give a replacement-sheet shop the MBCI product name, the R95 drawing identity, the approval number and a sample from the actual roof. Together they distinguish this documented section from other panels marketed simply as PBR or R-panel.

The official photograph shows white and blue roofs with the high, regularly spaced ribs associated with MBCI's PBR product. It comes from the first page of MBCI's own 2025 data sheet, where the panel name and roof image appear together. Use the image to recognize the application and the signed section drawing to establish dimensions. A photo cannot resolve the small stiffening beads or the shape of the underlap leg. Historic maintenance records may say R-panel, purlin-bearing R-panel or PBR without a maker or drawing number. The R95 identifier and dated notice make the inquiry much more precise than the generic name alone.

Read the 36-inch cover, rib spacing and printed angles

R95 shows 36 inches of panel coverage after side-lap assembly. The major ribs are on 12-inch centers, and the drawing marks the repeating four-inch spacing within a 12-inch module. Its tall rib is 1¼ inches high, with a one-inch crest and a 3 5/16-inch toe-to-toe base on the illustrated center rib. The main rib web is marked 50 degrees typical. The smaller pan stiffener is marked 3/16 inch high, with a ¾-inch crest and a 1 3/8-inch illustrated base. Its web is marked 30 degrees typical. These numbers describe two different kinds of rise and angle; a supplier needs both to reproduce the visible rhythm and to avoid a shallow bead that clashes with an existing sheet.

The 2025 MBCI product sheet prints the same 36-inch cover, 12-inch major spacing, 1¼-inch nominal height, one-inch major crest and ¾-inch minor crest in its compact profile sketch. It also prints a 3 1/16-inch partial valley run near a minor bead and the next high rib. That callout is not the same measurement as the 3 5/16-inch full major-rib base in R95. Compare where each dimension arrow begins and ends before transferring a number to a fabricator's worksheet. The full approval drawing remains the primary angle-bearing reference. Its schematic is not a substitute for a measured cross-section of the exact existing roof where both factory edges are still intact.

Keep the approved steel section distinct from the broader product line

The R95 section appears as the final page of the 19-page county approval PDF, and the notice names NCI Group as applicant. The drawing was prepared in 2021, sealed in December 2023 and accepted by Miami-Dade in June 2024. Its panel-properties table specifies 24-gauge steel at 0.024-inch minimum thickness or 22-gauge steel at 0.029-inch minimum thickness, each with 50-ksi yield strength and AZ55 coating. The approved geometry and assembly belong to the listed 22- and 24-gauge roof construction. If a roof survey finds another gauge, record that measured thickness rather than silently assigning it the gauge shown in the approval. A shop can then address availability and fit for the proposed metal sheet.

MBCI's present PBR product page lists 26 gauge as standard and 24 and 22 gauge as options, while its October 2025 data sheet additionally lists 29 gauge among optional gauges. Those are product-range descriptions, not a statement that the county's 22/24-gauge roof approval applies unchanged to every material option. The manufacturer also offers coatings and smooth or embossed finishes, which are separate purchasing choices from the formed profile. Ask for the proposed gauge, substrate, finish and color in writing alongside the profile geometry. Different metal thicknesses can change how two side-lap edges sit together even when the nominal 36-inch cover and rib spacing look familiar.

Inspect both side laps before ordering a replacement run

MBCI describes its PBR panel as having an unsymmetrical purlin-bearing side-lap leg. One edge extends to bear on the frame beneath the adjacent sheet, while the opposite edge completes the overlap. The 36-inch cover is the joined working width, not a measurement across both free tails of a loose panel. R95 shows the outer roof-panel form and a separate side-lap fastener and tape-sealer detail, but it does not dimension every free-edge return, bend radius or nesting clearance needed to cut new roll tooling. Mark the roof-facing color side, the underlap edge, the overlap edge and the sequence in which panels were laid. These observations matter when replacing a sheet in the middle of an existing roof field.

Photograph a sound full-width panel straight on at its cut end, with a ruler in the section plane. Include both factory side edges, the large ribs and the intermediate low beads. A piece cut at a rake or penetration may have lost the original return and should be identified as field-trimmed. Tell the supplier whether the proposed sheet joins existing metal on one side or both sides. Request a short trial length before a production run and physically nest it against both neighboring sheets. Compare the high-rib crest, 50-degree webs, 30-degree stiffener webs, pan contact, free tails and resulting cover. The trial fit provides evidence about the actual roof that a shared PBR label cannot supply.

Carry the roof assembly information with the section drawing

MBCI lists PBR for roofs and walls and publishes a minimum roof slope of one-half inch of rise per twelve inches of run for its product. The company describes the panel as through-fastened directly over purlins or joists. The filed Miami-Dade drawing includes details for a roof-panel lap, field fastening, eave, high eave, ridge, rake, hip and valley conditions. These drawings describe the approved roof construction with specified support, fastener and sealant arrangements. For a replacement inquiry, photograph the support pattern and note its spacing, roof slope, sheet direction, finished run length and any end lap. Those details determine what a supplier must quote in addition to the cross-section itself.

The 2025 MBCI data sheet lists PBR testing and approval references, including the same Miami-Dade notice, alongside product specifications. A test entry describes an assembly under stated conditions rather than certifying an arbitrary replacement made from a different die, gauge or laminate. Keep the original building's support and weather details with the repair file so an installer can specify the new sheets in their actual setting. If the replacement changes the roof layout, the built-up metal roof installation service can document quantities, lap positions and where the new material must meet sound existing steel. The profile sheet in the file section is a dimensional inquiry aid; the complete manufacturer drawing carries the roof details.

Prepare a metal-sheet quotation around the exact section

Send a metal fabricator the R95 approval PDF and this page's single-sheet dimensional summary. State the approved 2021-drawn MBCI PBR roof section: 36-inch installed cover, 12-inch major-rib pitch, 1¼-inch major rise, one-inch major crest, 3 5/16-inch illustrated major base, 50-degree typical main web, 3/16-inch minor rise, ¾-inch minor crest, 1 3/8-inch illustrated minor base and 30-degree typical minor web. Keep the 3 1/16-inch valley run labeled as its own separate span. Provide the existing panel's overall physical width, gauge if measured, both edge photographs and an undamaged full-width sample. Do not substitute a competing manufacturer's PBR drawing for this one merely because the headline widths match.

Add finished length for each panel, number of sheets, required roof-facing finish, existing support spacing, roof slope, end-lap position, delivery location and whether work is a single-sheet repair or a continuous new field. Ask the shop to say what section it proposes to form, which rolls or source it would use, whether a special run is needed, and whether it can produce a trial length. A useful quotation specifies the resulting installed cover after nesting, side-lap hand and any differences from the sample. If two shops quote standard PBR panels, compare actual formed sections before comparing price. A rib can look similar from above while its shallow stiffeners or free-edge return prevent an exact replacement fit.

Ask MBCI separately for a fiberglass PBR light-transmitting sheet

MBCI separately sells PBR light-transmitting panels made from high-strength fiberglass. Its current ordering pages identify white standard fiberglass and UV-resistant fiberglass versions, including UV-resistant parts HW-1432, HW-1434 and HW-1436 in nominal lengths of 10 feet 8 inches, 11 feet and 12 feet. These are a direct manufacturer route for a translucent PBR inquiry. Send MBCI the dated R95 drawing, an intact metal sample showing both laps, required finished length, quantity and the position of the proposed translucent sheet in the roof. Ask which available fiberglass section is intended to nest with the particular existing metal, and obtain its own profile drawing or trial piece for comparison.

The R95 Miami-Dade notice approves a specific steel roof panel and does not list GRP laminate dimensions, light transmission, fiberglass support span or fiberglass fastening as part of that steel section. The word PBR on MBCI's light-transmitting listing therefore starts a precise matching conversation; it does not prove that every historic metal sheet or every 22/24-gauge field installation accepts the current fiberglass part without a check. Ask MBCI to identify the fiberglass construction, color, available lengths, support and fixing instructions, and the exact overlap it proposes. Compare the fiberglass trial against the metal roof on both sides before placing an order. Keep the metal and GRP quotations separate so their different materials and installation details remain clear.

Five Texas contacts for metal forming feasibility

For a geographically broad metal-sheet inquiry, contact Metal Warehouse in Sherman, Xtreme Metals near Flint and Tyler, Quality Metals around San Antonio, Lucid Metal Works in Houston and All Precision Metals in El Paso. Their published services make them practical contacts for regional forming, fabrication or an R-panel quote. None has been established as the holder of NCI drawing R95 rolls. Send all five the identical dimensional PDF, the full manufacturer NOA, an undamaged measured sample, needed gauge, lengths and quantities. Ask each whether it can source exact MBCI material, match with existing tooling, or price a special run. A documented feasibility response is more useful than a stock-panel name alone.

Ask each contact for a profile sketch of its proposed metal sheet, the cover after a trial side lap, a list of departures from R95, a sample policy and a delivered price for the requested lengths. If its usual PBR has a different main web angle, minor bead, main-rib base or bearing leg, the shop can explain whether a custom setup is possible. Where a site has multiple roof generations, label the sample by building and slope so sections are not mixed in a single order. The five regional contacts address metal forming; the separate MBCI fiberglass route addresses GRP. Using the same dated drawing and a preserved field sample gives the owner a repeatable way to compare their responses.

Build a reusable record for later repairs

Store the official R95 file, the 2025 exact-product data sheet and the one-page ordering sheet together with photos of the installed roof. Record the building, slope, sheet direction, original color side, gauge reading, high-rib spacing, minor-bead dimensions and both side-edge forms. Label which values came from the signed drawing and which were measured in the field. The distinction matters because an old roof can have repairs, cuts or another panel generation alongside the original material. Note the supplier's trial-sheet result and retain a short approved offcut if a replacement run is ordered. This turns a one-time purchasing exercise into a clear record for future roof work.

MBCI's present product page, its Rev D data sheet and the 2024 county approval are three views of one named product at different levels of detail. The current page helps locate supply and colors; the data sheet connects the product to the approval; the filed section supplies the 50-degree and 30-degree fabrication angles. McElroy and other manufacturers also sell panels called PBR, but their notices and tooling have separate identities. Retaining the R95 drawing number on every quotation prevents the generic product name from replacing the actual dimensions. For a GRP enquiry, add the fiberglass supplier's own profile and trial-lap result to this record rather than writing the steel approval number onto an unverified translucent sheet.
