Metal Panels Inc. describes StrongSeam PBR as a higher-ribbed, exposed-fastener panel for pre-engineered metal buildings, agricultural buildings and commercial roofs. PBR refers to the purlin-bearing feature at one edge of this manufacturer's section. It is not a guarantee that an unrelated R-panel, another company's PBR or a panel formed in another decade will share the same lap. This record follows the Metal Panels Inc. one-page PBR sheet marked 2026. Use the manufacturer name, that dated PDF and a sound piece of the existing sheet when requesting a replacement, especially when one new panel must interlock with an older roof run.

The red-roof photograph on the 2026 manufacturer sheet shows this named panel in use on two roof slopes. Long, regularly spaced high ribs are apparent, but the image is application evidence rather than a measuring instrument. An identification set should include an overall roof photograph, an image looking squarely across several ribs, and a photograph of a clean cut end with both formed edges visible. Those views let a shop distinguish the main rib rhythm from the small reinforcing beads in the pan. Record any surviving label, original job paperwork or panel offcut alongside the photographs so a future repair does not depend only on a generic PBR description.

The 2026 drawing prints 36 inches of installed coverage and a 12.00-inch repeating major-rib pitch. The 36-inch dimension is the amount of roof width contributed once the designed side lap is engaged. The 12-inch callout measures from one tall rib to the next; three repeats make the stated cover. Neither number is the outside width of an unjoined sheet. The same drawing puts a separate 43-inch coil-width value in parentheses. That is the metal feed width for the shown section and must not be entered as finished cover or treated as the material width for a fiberglass replacement. Keep these values in separate fields on a quotation.

Two 4.0-inch horizontal arrows mark pan or valley runs in the right half of the printed section. They are local distances between features, not a promise that every exposed flat on an aged roof measures four inches after forming or wear. Ask the fabricator to return a proposed cross-section with the rib centers and intermediate positions identified. Compare its actual part with the undamaged original from the same view and orientation. A standard 36-inch R-panel may satisfy a coverage schedule yet put its shallow ribs and side-lap return in different positions. A one-bay replacement needs those positions checked before a run of sheets is ordered.

The manufacturer uses two height descriptions on the same 2026 page. Its short product description calls PBR a one-and-one-quarter-inch rib, while the lower dimensioned cross-section shows a 1.150-inch vertical callout at the first tall rib. The page does not state that one value corrects or supersedes the other. The compact ordering record prints both with their original roles: 1.150 inches as the drawing callout and 1 1/4 inches as nominal product language. A shop should not silently convert one into a tooling dimension for the other. A clean section of the existing sheet and a proposed sample can resolve how its forming equipment measures the rise.

The right-hand terminal rib has a printed 1.00-inch top or crest dimension. That measurement belongs to the indicated terminal feature; it is not the spacing between major ribs or a finished sheet width. To survey an installed PBR roof, measure a straight intact cut end with a square and calipers where possible. Record the height from the pan datum to the same point on the rib that the published arrow addresses. A rib crushed by foot traffic or a panel bent during removal is a poor tooling reference. Photograph the ruler position so both supplier and building owner can see what was measured.

The 2026 cross-section marks a shallow intermediate bead rising 0.140 inch. It gives 0.750 inch at its upper width and 1.300 inches across the broader lower portion. Those are small-bead details and cannot be reassigned to the tall PBR rib. The 2017 manual describes the minor ribs as one-eighth inch, an older nominal description. For this dated record, the 2026 drawing's decimal callout is the printed geometric value. The position and form of these beads matter to the appearance and to closures or edge details that touch the pan. Include them when sending a section to a roll-former, even though they are less obvious than the main ribs from ground level.

The left outside edge of the 2026 drawing is identified as the purlin-bearing feature. Its right outside edge is labeled a five-degree hug leg. The right and left ends have different shapes and must be compared in the correct handed orientation. The 2026 PDF does not supply a numeric main-web angle, bend radius or complete pair of free-edge tail lengths. The original one-page schematic therefore stops short of drawing those unprinted forms as fabrication geometry. Send the full official section and an intact, full-width sample to a shop. Ask for a short piece from the proposed die that nests with both surviving sides before using the proposed sheet as a directly mating replacement.

Metal Panels Inc. lists 26-gauge steel as the standard PBR choice and offers 24- and 22-gauge options by request. The 2026 sheet also refers to A606, coated colors and Galvalume within that metal range. Those choices affect the replacement material and appearance but do not prove that another company's same-gauge PBR has matching tooling. State the actual roof gauge or measured metal thickness, the visible finish, and the number and finished length of panels needed. Note roof pitch, run direction, purlin positions, end-lap locations, eave overhang and the direction of the existing side lap. A profile match is only one part of a workable sheet order.

The current product sheet states a 1:12 minimum slope with sealant. Its older June 2017 installation manual also discusses low-slope lap treatment, but its roof-installation section says slopes below 3:12 are not recommended. Give Metal Panels Inc. or the proposed supplier the roof's actual pitch and ask for the current written installation detail for that pitch. The manual remains useful for identifying the PBR-specific eave, ridge, rake, valley and end-lap sequence; the dated 2026 sheet controls the dimensions on this page. Do not convert a product claim or a drawing dimension into approval for a particular building assembly without its corresponding installation detail.

A fiberglass or GRP sheet matching this roof would be a separate manufactured material, not a 26-gauge version of StrongSeam PBR. The metal section is a useful shape reference because it names the cover, main rib rhythm, intermediate bead and asymmetric lap ends. It does not identify a fiberglass resin, reinforcement, laminate thickness, roof span or pre-existing MPI-compatible mold. For a GRP inquiry, specify the proposed daylight opening, preferred translucent appearance, number of sheets, finished lengths, support spacing and whether the piece will lap into existing steel on one or both sides. Keep the requirement for actual side-lap fit explicit.

That makes it a practical separate feasibility contact, not an established source for a StrongSeam PBR drop-in sheet. Provide the official metal drawing, this ordering summary and a sound full-width sample. Ask the fiberglass maker to identify available tooling, the exact formed cover and edge geometry it proposes, its material data sheet, quantity threshold and a trial section. A fiberglass proposal can then be reviewed against the steel lap rather than being ordered solely because both profiles are called PBR.

Request a side-by-side marked cross-section where a dimension differs, with the proposed sheet's actual lap hand, trial-piece availability, finish, minimum order, maximum practical length, lead time and delivery terms. A supplier may quote a standard panel for a complete new roof plane while declining a directly mating repair sheet. Keep those offers separate, because a transition detail for a new field of metal is a different job from interlocking one replacement panel into a surviving run.

Include measured lengths, desired overhang, access constraints and a photo of the old sheet next to the adjacent retained panel.
