Identify Mini-V-Beam and its dated roof section
Mini-V-Beam is AEP Span's named exposed-fastener metal roofing and siding panel. Closely spaced trapezoidal ribs give the sheet a different rhythm from a broad three-rib R-panel. AEP Span lists 32 inches of installed coverage and a 1 3/8-inch panel height, and its March 2026 PS167 sheet describes use on roofs, vertical walls, horizontal walls, open-framed canopies and carports. The product page emphasizes commercial and industrial siding, while expressly including roofing and a 1:12 minimum roof slope. This record concerns the roof-capable Mini-V-Beam section, with the weather face and roof-lap direction identified for any replacement order.
The section drawing began as an AEP Span Sales Print dated June 18, 2014 and carries Rev 1 dated September 9, 2022. That revision is the identity of the measured profile presented here. AEP Span announced that Mini-V-Beam will be discontinued on October 1, 2026; the notice appears while the product remains in its September 2026 catalog. Record the drawing revision and roof installation date separately, then ask AEP Span whether original metal sheets, matching fiberglass sheets or replacement records remain available for the building. The announcement makes an intact field sample especially valuable for later repairs, when the named product may no longer be on a production schedule.
Read the 32-inch cover and 45-degree rib web
The September 2022 Sales Print labels 32 inches as installed coverage and 4 9/16 inches between illustrated repeating rib stations. It shows a 1 3/8-inch rise from the lower pan to the rib crest, a 15/16-inch flat across an illustrated crest and a 45-degree callout at a sloping web. A 3 5/8-inch dimension also appears between the endpoints of adjacent low flats across a raised rib. That arrow spans over the rib; it is not a valley-flat width. These six printed callouts belong to the depicted section, so a quote packet should retain their locations as well as their numerical values.
The manufacturer marks its section dimensions approximate. The 32-inch number describes the roof coverage once sheets overlap, rather than the width of an uninstalled sheet or the coil blank. The drawing does not assign complete numerical dimensions to both free side-lap tails, their return bends, forming radii, material-dependent clearance or manufacturing tolerance. The local 3 5/8-inch arrow cannot supply one of those missing values. Use the original one-page ordering PDF in the file section to transmit the printed dimensions, then add photographs and measurements of an undamaged full-width roof sheet. A supplier's own section must show both terminal edges before it can be compared with the building.
Specify the metal and visible face of the replacement
AEP Span identifies AZ50 Zincalume steel as the standard base metal on its Mini-V-Beam product page. The page lists 26-, 24-, 22- and 20-gauge choices, and the March 2026 product sheet describes the standard finished gauges and gauge-specific coatings. AEP Span gives a usual manufactured length range of 5 to 45 feet, with short-cut sheets discussed as an option in its sheet. These catalog choices do not identify the steel or coating installed on an older roof. Inspect the existing sheet's back face and edges, record the observable finish and color, and obtain thickness information from a sound sample before requesting a matching metal and surface treatment.
Mini-V-Beam can be supplied as a reversed rolled panel, and it is used on walls as well as roofs. Mark which face of the existing roof is exposed to weather and which factory edge lies over its neighbor. Those details belong on the sample and the supplier drawing, because a section that shares the central ribs can still have the wrong lap hand or exposed face for an insertion between retained sheets. The named Mini-V-Beam photograph on this page shows an uninstalled metal sample, useful for recognizing its tight rib rhythm. It does not identify the sample's gauge, finish, AEP production run or 2022 edge dimensions. The physical roof sample carries that project-specific information.
Survey the Mini-V-Beam roof before sizing sheets
AEP Span gives a 1:12 minimum recommended roof slope for Mini-V-Beam. Its December 2025 installation guide describes the named panel's roof interfaces and contains a panel-lap detail. The roof field also has eaves, ridges, wall transitions, openings and potentially end laps that determine each replacement length. Sketch the roof plane, its slope and rib direction, and number the affected sheet positions from eave to ridge. Measure each finished length along the rib run and separately identify factory-square ends, field cuts at valleys or gables, and pieces that meet an existing end lap. The 32-inch side-to-side cover does not specify any of those lengthwise conditions.
Record the support material and spacing, the current fixing pattern, the position of closures or flashings and the neighboring panels that will remain. Photograph a side seam and an end seam before removing material; they answer different fit questions. A new sheet has to meet the retained side edges while following the roof's actual water-shedding direction and its perimeter details. Use AEP Span's installation guide to identify the intended panel arrangement, then compare it with the building survey. For a larger roof repair, the built-up metal roof installation service can connect the sheet order with the support and weathering details around it.
Keep both Mini-V-Beam factory edges for a trial fit
The Sales Print depicts the rib field and its two outer edges, while the PS167 sheet illustrates painted-side lapping. Neither document prints a complete free-edge bend schedule for recreating a loose sheet. An offcut from a rake can be misleading if one factory side has been trimmed away. Select a sound full-width piece retaining both formed edges; label its weather face, left and right edges, underlapping side and overlapping side. A square transverse cut through the ribs makes it possible to photograph the actual section with a scale in the same plane. Record loose-sheet width separately from the effective cover obtained when two existing sheets nest.
Ask the proposed supplier for a short formed metal sample and lay it against retained Mini-V-Beam on both sides of the repair position. Check the pitch, 1 3/8-inch nominal rise, 15/16-inch crest and 45-degree web at the measured location, then examine whether each terminal rib seats without forcing the adjacent panel. A common R-panel can have a comparable roof purpose yet a very different rib count and lap. Matching only the nominal 32-inch coverage cannot settle that difference. Keep photographs of the accepted trial joint with the drawing revision, field sample and supplier cross-section so the next order can identify the section that actually fitted.
Send a complete Mini-V-Beam metal-sheet quote packet
Send the September 2022 AEP Span dimensions drawing, its March 2026 PS167 sheet and this page's original one-page profile PDF. Add the full-width field sample or clear scaled cross-section photographs showing both factory edges, plus a roof sketch with sheet locations, quantities and finished lengths. State the 32-inch target installed cover, 4 9/16-inch illustrated pitch, 1 3/8-inch rise, 15/16-inch crest flat, 45-degree printed web and the correctly located 3 5/8-inch interval. Name the desired metal, gauge, coating and color from the actual project record. Supply delivery location and identify any sheet that must be curved, cut around an opening or joined lengthwise.
Ask each metal contact whether it can obtain genuine AEP Span Mini-V-Beam before or after the announced discontinuation, whether it has an existing matching forming route, or whether it proposes a custom run. Request a dated section of the product it would actually supply, including both terminal ribs, loose width, intended cover after lapping and material thickness. A trial piece belongs between the drawing review and the full-length order. Compare it at both sides of the repair and at the applicable closure. Record the supplier's section identity and the sample-fit result on the purchase request; the word Mini-V-Beam alone cannot establish continuity between an installed generation and a later forming setup.
Pursue matching fiberglass and custom GRP as separate inquiries
AEP Span's March 2026 Mini-V-Beam sheet lists matching fiberglass panels among its optional features. Ask AEP Span directly whether it can supply a sheet for the particular roof, which metal generation it is intended to lap with, and whether stock or tooling will remain after the October 1 discontinuation. Request the fiberglass section, both edge details, laminate description, available length and installation instructions for that material. The metal drawing gives a useful shape identity but does not print a fiberglass cross-section or the clearance of a GRP edge against a steel edge. Obtain a physical fiberglass sample and test it with the retained metal at both roof side laps.
A separate custom GRP route is available through Dipcraft Manufacturing, which accepts a profile sketch or existing panel sample for corrugated-fiberglass matching inquiries. Send the dated AEP drawing and one-page order sheet, along with an intact full-width piece showing the roof's actual metal section. Explain whether the desired panel is translucent or opaque, its position in the roof, required finished length, support spacing and the exposed weather face. Ask Dipcraft to identify the formed section and laminate it can make and to supply a short trial piece. Keep its fiberglass material and installation data with that quote; the steel load tables in PS167 describe steel, not the proposed GRP sheet.
For a fiberglass match, request a profile review from Dipcraft Manufacturing custom fiberglass roof-panel inquiry.
Five Texas contacts for metal forming feasibility
Metal Warehouse in Sherman, Xtreme Metals in the Flint and Tyler area, Quality Metals around San Antonio, Lucid Metal Works in Houston and All Precision Metals in El Paso give this roof project five geographically separated Texas metal-sheet inquiry contacts. Their panel or metal-fabrication offerings make each a practical first contact for a measured feasibility quote. Share the same Mini-V-Beam packet with every shop: dated AEP drawing, current PS167, original single-page order sheet, full-width sample photographs, quantities, lengths, metal selection and delivery point. Ask whether it can source the named AEP product or form a measured piece that seats at both side laps of the existing roof.
Compare replies by the proposed cross-section and trial-fit process. The required section includes the Mini-V-Beam's close 4 9/16-inch rib pitch, 1 3/8-inch rise, printed 45-degree web and the actual left and right free edges measured on the building. Ask each contact to state whether its machine has suitable tooling, whether it needs a special setup and what sample it will provide before a long run. The five Texas names are quote contacts, not a claim that each shop already owns AEP Span's 2022 roll set. Route the fiberglass proposal through AEP Span or a GRP maker so a metal-panel price is not mistaken for a translucent-sheet offer.

Keep the dated Mini-V-Beam profile with the accepted sheet
File the Sales Print under its September 9, 2022 Rev 1 title-block date, the December 2025 installation guide under its printed revision, and the March 2026 PS167 product sheet under its own code. The first provides the approximate 45-degree and section-size callouts; the guide shows roof and lap conditions; PS167 records metal options and the matching-fiberglass statement before the announced discontinuation. Keep this page's single-page ordering sheet with them. Add photographs of the installed roof, a labeled full-width metal sample, the accepted supplier section and trial-fit result. Each record then has a clear role in a future metal or fiberglass order.
AEP Span's October 1, 2026 discontinuation notice should travel with the archived building file. After that date, a retained roof sample and supplier drawing may be the most precise description of the existing sheet. If a later manufacturer notice changes product availability, preserve the dated record rather than overwriting the 2022 geometry. The photograph of an uninstalled Mini-V-Beam sample on this page helps identify the rib pattern, but the file's dimension drawing and the building's measured metal determine the quote request. Keep the final order quantities, accepted material data and trial lap photographs together so the next repair can identify the sheet and the roof interface that actually worked.
