Overview
Anchor-Tite Extended Canted Fascia is a snap-on fascia system from Metal-Era's Anchor-Tite family, made for single-ply membrane roof edges. A patented extruded aluminum anchor bar terminates the roofing membrane, and a 12-ft. fascia cover hooks onto a continuous cleat and rotates up and over the bar. The design is non-penetrating, so the edge needs no stripping-in or heat welding.
The extended profile carries larger face heights than the standard Anchor-Tite canted fascia so that it covers multiple nailers. It comes in two versions: a galvanized waterdam version, which has its own formed waterdam under the membrane, and an existing beveled wood nailer version, which fits over a wood cant block already on the roof. Both share the same anchor bar, cleat, cover and splice-plate system.
The anchor bar can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled when a roof is re-covered. The system is one of the perimeter metal components used to finish low-slope single-ply roof assemblies at the roof edge.
Versions and face heights
The galvanized waterdam version is made for new edge construction: a 24-gauge galvanized waterdam is nailed on top of the nailer and the membrane runs over it. The existing beveled wood nailer version is built around a wood cant profile 3 1/2 in. high with a 45 degree bevel, and the membrane covers the cant block and the face of the nailer.
Both versions are made in four face heights: 9 in., 10 1/2 in., 12 in. and 13 1/2 in. The standard, non-extended Anchor-Tite canted fascia is made in 5.5-in. and 7.5-in. sizes and is a separate product line.
- Galvanized waterdam: AEFC-902 (H 9 in., X 7 in.), AEFC-1052 (H 10 1/2 in., X 8 1/2 in.), AEFC-1202 (H 12 in., X 10 in.) and AEFC-1352 (H 13 1/2 in., X 11 1/2 in.).
- Existing beveled wood nailer: AEFC-900 (9 in.), AEFC-1050 (10 1/2 in.), AEFC-1200 (12 in.) and AEFC-1350 (13 1/2 in.).
On the waterdam drawing, H is the overall height of the cover and X is the distance from the waterdam down to the bottom of the cover. The wood nailer version is sized by H only. Radius and custom profiles are also available.

Cover materials and finishes
Extended covers are formed in three materials:
- 22-gauge galvanized steel
- .050-in. aluminum
- .063-in. aluminum
The 24-gauge steel and .040-in. aluminum covers listed for the standard-size canted fascia are not offered in the extended sizes. The waterdam itself is 24-gauge galvanized steel, and the continuous cleat is 20-gauge galvanized steel.
For Anchor-Tite Extended Canted Fascia, coil-coated standard colors carry a 30-year Kynar 500 finish warranty. On Anchor-Tite Extended Canted Fascia, custom post-coated Kynar 500 colors include a 10-year Kynar 500 finish warranty, and a 20-year warranty is available on request. Anodized finishes carry a 5-year warranty; coil anodized finishing has no warranty, and post-coat Class 1 batch anodizing can be raised from 5 to 10 years for an upcharge.
The standard color range is Dark Bronze, Bone White, Cityscape, Almond, Medium Bronze, Sandstone, Sierra Tan, Slate Gray and Stone White, plus Clear Anodized. All colors are also available in mill finish.
Wind testing and approvals
The galvanized waterdam version is tested to ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1, the roof-edge wind standard referenced by the International Building Code. It carries the FM Approved mark and an ANSI/SPRI ES-1 design pressure of 139 psf. The version is Factory Mutual approved for wind uplift and Miami-Dade approved under 23-0912.08 (12/11/28) for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code.
The existing beveled wood nailer version has an ANSI/SPRI ES-1 design pressure of 190 psf. The FM and Miami-Dade approvals are named only for the waterdam version.
The anchor bar profile is covered by U.S. Patent 7,451,572.
Components, fasteners and splice plates
Each system ships with the pieces it needs. All anchor bar EPDM splice plates and fasteners are included; sealant is supplied by others.
- Fascia cover, in 12-ft. lengths, with pre-punched holes.
- Extruded anchor bar, in 12-ft. lengths, with slotted holes at 12 in. on center.
- Continuous anchor cleat, 20-gauge galvanized steel, in 12-ft. lengths, with slotted holes at 24 in. on center.
- Cover splice plates, 3 1/2 in. wide, at all cover joints, and 3 1/2-in. anchor bar splice plates with a bump-out to prevent migration.
- Inside and outside anchor bar miters, and miter cleats made as two 14-in. pieces per miter.
- #10 x 2-in. stainless steel screws with washers for the anchor bar at 12 in. on center, and 1/4 x 1 1/4-in. Tapcon screws with washers for the cleat at 24 in. on center.
The waterdam version adds 12-ft. waterdam lengths, 4-in.-wide levelers and 1 1/4-in. ring shank galvanized roofing nails at 6 in. on center. For Anchor-Tite Extended Canted Fascia, fasteners must be corrosion resistant and rated for a minimum 250 lb. pullout force in the substrate used.
The concealed splice plates interlock and do not migrate under the panels, which avoids the cover plates or lap joints seen at the seams of traditional edges. The slotted fastening holes allow thermal movement and set fastener spacing.
Installation sequence
The waterdam version is installed in steps that start at the nailer and finish with the covers. For single-ply roofing the steps are:
- Waterdam and leveler. A leveler hooks onto the waterdam 2 in. from each end of a 12-ft. length and one goes at the center, giving three levelers per length and two per miter.
- Waterdam. Miters go in first, nailed through the pre-slotted holes on top of the nailer, with a gap of 14 1/2 in. left at each scupper location. The 12-ft. sections then run from right to left as seen from the roof top and overlap 1 in.
- Roofing membrane, applied following the membrane maker's recommendations for the roof edge.
- Scuppers, with the flange set in a continuous bead of non-curing sealant over the membrane.
Built-up and modified roofing follow their own procedure: the base sheet covers the nailer completely and the flashing is stripped in over the waterdam. The waterdam is pulled tight to the outside face of the building before the roof flange is nailed. The asphalt must be kept from spilling over the edge.
Steps 5 to 8 are the same for both versions:
- Miter bar and miter cleat. The cleat pieces hook into the miter bar before installation and sit flush to the outside edge of the bar, with one anchor bar splice plate under each end.
- Anchor bar and cleat. The cleat hooks to the anchor bar and the 12-ft. sections overlap a bar splice plate with a 3/8-in. space between bars. The bar is fastened at 12 in. on center with the 2-in. screws and the cleat at 24 in. on center with the 1 1/4-in. screws.
- Fascia miter covers. Miter covers go on first, with a splice plate under each end of the two-piece cover and a 1-in. lap tab on one piece.
- Fascia covers. A 3/8-in. gap is left between cover sections, one splice plate goes under the far end of each, and the lower edge hooks onto the cleat and rotates up and over the anchor bar. Covers are field cut with a fine-tooth hacksaw, and the protective film comes off before each section goes on.
The wood nailer version begins with the typical roofing membrane application. A single-ply sheet runs over the cant block and the front face of the nailer, which must be covered. In built-up or modified roofing the first layer runs over the nailer face and the flashing extends up the cant block under the anchor bar. Installers wear protective eyewear.
Fascia extender, miters and scuppers
Factory-fabricated miters, scuppers and drainage accessories are made for the system so that field fabrication is not needed. Print approval forms cover 90 degree inside and outside miters, overflow, spillout and downspout scuppers in tapered 1 1/2-in. drop or flat styles, and non-90 degree miters under a separate print approval, 11010-1103.
A fascia extender is a separate accessory. The lap joint version is installed with a continuous cleat fastened at 12 in. on center and installed true and level, after the miters. Each extender hooks by its drip edge onto the cleat and is fastened at 12 in. on center, working right to left as seen from the roof top, with a 1-in. lap at the notch at each joint. The protective film comes off right after installation.
The offset version of the extender has pre-slotted holes at 12 in. on center and an offset dimension that is specified on the order. It comes with a continuous 22-gauge galvanized cleat in 24-gauge or 22-gauge galvanized steel, or .040-in., .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum. The .050-in. and .063-in. aluminum come with 3 1/2-in. concealed splice plates because of the material thickness.
Wind warranty
A lifetime, 215 mph Anchor-Tite Wind Warranty is available on all Metal-Era manufactured Anchor-Tite products. It covers replacement or repair of any portion of the system that has failed because of a defect in Metal-Era supplied materials. On Anchor-Tite Extended Canted Fascia, the warranty covers the roof edge for the lifetime of the roof on which it was originally installed. The finish warranties described above are separate.
