Rake Angle Attachment Screw

The Rake Angle Attachment Screw is a BLAZER self-drilling screw made for attaching a sliding rake plate used in standing seam metal roofing. It is a proprietary standoff screw. The standoff lets the rake support angle expand and contract with temperature.

The screw is 1/4-14 x 1-1/4 in with a DP3 drill point and a 5/16 in hex washer head. The oversize washer face gives more bearing surface between the fastener and the rake plate angle, which allows greater movement. A special shoulder keeps the screw from over-clamping the rake support. The finish is TRI-SEAL coating.

1. Determine the screw drill point type. Add up the total thickness the screw will drill. Select the drill point type and screw size on the size chart. Allow at least three full threads to extend beyond the material being fastened.
2. Determine the screw length. Measure from the top surface of the material being fastened to the underside of the metal that will be drilled and tapped, allowing for any void or insulation. This is the attachment thickness. Select a screw length where the attachment thickness is less than or equal to the load bearing length.
