Overview
Perma-Tite System 200 Fascia is a metal fascia from Metal-Era's Perma-Tite family, made for the edge of a single-ply roof. The cover sits over a 24-gauge galvanized steel waterdam that is nailed to the wood nailers at the roof edge, and the roof membrane is stripped in over the waterdam. Fasteners are not exposed on the face, and the system has two attachment points: one on the face and one on the roof deck.
This page covers two versions of the same System 200 fascia for fully adhered or mechanically attached single-ply membranes. In the snap-on version the cover snaps onto spring clips and no crimping is done. In the crimp-on version the cover is secured by a field crimp. A third fascia in the family, System 300 Snap-On, is built for built-up or modified roofs and is listed separately.
Covers come in 12-ft. lengths. Miters, scuppers and drainage accessories are fabricated at the factory, so they are not formed in the field. The fascia is one of the perimeter metal components used to finish single-ply flat roof systems, where it caps the edge of the deck and the membrane termination.
Snap-on and crimp-on versions
The two versions share the waterdam, the cover materials, the 12-ft. lengths and the 3 1/2-in. wide splice plates at every joint. They differ in how the cover is held and in their face heights.
- Snap-on: the cover engages 4-in. spring clips of 24-gauge steel, set 4 ft. on center. A raised stop on the concealed splice plate prevents the plate from migrating under the fascia panels. The waterdam has pre-punched, slotted holes for thermal movement of the materials and for correct fastener placement and spacing.
- Crimp-on: the cover is crimped in the field. The splice plates are interlocking and concealed, and they also resist migration under the panels. The fastening holes in the galvanized waterdam are pre-punched, and a raised button-hole on the vertical face of the waterdam is included.
Standard fascia of either version will not function with a TPO or PVC strip-in membrane thicker than .060 in.

Face heights and nailer coverage
Face heights run from 5 1/4 in. up to 12 3/4 in. in the snap-on version and from 5 in. up to 12 1/2 in. in the crimp-on version. Each height is made for a set number of wood nailers, from one nailer on the smallest fascia to six on the largest.
Snap-on version:
- FA-50: 5 1/4 in., 1 nailer
- FA-65: 6 3/4 in., 2 nailers
- FA-80: 8 1/4 in., 3 nailers
- FA-95: 9 3/4 in., 4 nailers
- FA-110: 11 1/4 in., 5 nailers
- FA-125: 12 3/4 in., 6 nailers
Crimp-on version:
- FA-50: 5 in., 1 nailer
- FA-65: 6 1/2 in., 2 nailers
- FA-80: 8 in., 3 nailers
- FA-95: 9 1/2 in., 4 nailers
- FA-110: 11 in., 5 nailers
- FA-125: 12 1/2 in., 6 nailers
A stiffening band is available on the larger crimp-on heights: FA-80S at 8 in. with 3 nailers, FA-95S at 9 1/2 in. with 4 nailers, FA-110S at 11 in. with 5 nailers and FA-125S at 12 1/2 in. with 6 nailers. Snap-on fascia with a stiffening band is offered at 9 3/4 in., 11 1/4 in. and 12 3/4 in.
Materials, colors and finish warranties
Covers are manufactured in these materials:
- 24-gauge galvanized steel
- 22-gauge galvanized steel
- .040-in. aluminum
- .050-in. aluminum
- .063-in. aluminum
Oil canning can occur on larger face heights. The recommendation is .050-in. or .063-in. material for face heights above 8 in. on the crimp-on version and above 8 1/4 in. on the snap-on version. The 24-gauge steel and .040-in. aluminum covers carry that oil-canning note on the print approvals.
Coil-coated standard colors include a 30-year Kynar 500 finish warranty. For Perma-Tite System 200 Fascia, custom post-coated Kynar 500 colors include a 10-year finish warranty, and a 20-year Kynar 500 finish warranty is available on request. On Perma-Tite System 200 Fascia, anodized finishes carry a 5-year warranty; coil-anodized finishing has no warranty, and post-coat Class 1 batch anodizing can be raised from 5 years to 10 years for an upcharge. All colors are also available in mill finish.
For Perma-Tite System 200 Fascia, ten express colors are offered: Dark Bronze, Bone White, Cityscape, Almond, Medium Bronze, Sandstone, Sierra Tan, Slate Gray, Stone White and Clear Anodized. Express colors apply to 24-gauge, .040-in. and .050-in. covers only.
Wind testing and approvals
The fascia is tested to ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1, the roof-edge wind standard referenced by the International Building Code. It is FM Approved for wind uplift protection, and it holds Miami-Dade approval 23-0912.08 (12/11/28) for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code.
The ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 design pressure depends on the version, the face height and the cover material:
- Snap-on, FA-50 to FA-80 in 24-gauge steel or .040-in. aluminum: 196 psf.
- Snap-on, FA-50 to FA-80 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum: 216 psf.
- Snap-on, FA-95 to FA-125 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum: 116 psf.
- Crimp-on, FA-50 to FA-80 in 24-gauge steel or .040-in. aluminum: 126 psf.
- Crimp-on, FA-50 to FA-80 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum: 196 psf.
- Crimp-on, FA-95 to FA-125 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum: 97 psf.
The crimp-on version with a stiffening band carries the same three pressures as the standard crimp-on fascia: 126 psf for FA-80 in 24-gauge steel or .040-in. aluminum, 196 psf for FA-80 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum, and 97 psf for FA-95 to FA-125 in .050-in. or .063-in. aluminum.
Fastening and assembly
The waterdam is nailed to the wood nailers with 1 1/4-in. galvanized ring shank roofing nails, which are provided. The holes on the roof-deck leg are pre-punched at 6 in. on center and are fastened per job requirements. The face of the waterdam is fastened at 12 in. on center through its pre-punched holes.
The strip-in membrane is laid over the waterdam and ties into the base membrane. In the snap-on version the 4-in. spring clips, spaced 4 ft. on center, hold the cover in place. In the crimp-on version the cover is closed over the waterdam with a field crimp. Splice plates and fasteners are included with the fascia.
The installation file for the snap-on version is the Perma-Tite System 200 Snap-on Fascia Installation Instructions. The crimp-on version has a High Stop installation file, and the fascia extender is covered by separate lap joint and splice plate installation files.
Miters, endcaps and accessories
Miters and accessories are furnished standard unless a welded version is specified, and welded accessories require a minimum material thickness of .050 in.
- Inside and outside miters at 90 degrees, and non-90 degree miters.
- Right and left endcaps. On the crimp-on version the endcap material is the same as the fascia cover, and the splice plates are included.
- Right and left endwall flashings. On the crimp-on version these are .050-in. (1.27 mm) mill finish aluminum with weld lines, and direction is determined as seen from the roof side.
- Left-hand and right-hand Z miters for the crimp-on version.
- Overflow, spillout and downspout scuppers, in two styles: tapered with a 1 1/2-in. drop, or flat.
- Fascia extenders, with or without an offset, in lap joint and splice plate versions.
Radius fascia is made for both versions. It is FM Approved, the radius is provided either as a known radius or from field condition measurements, and the waterdam is slit as needed to follow the curve.
